Pipelined AVR microcontroller (pAVR) Documentation
- What's this?
- pAVR is an 8 bit controller.
It is fully compatible with Atmel's AVR architecture.
pAVR stands for "pipelined AVR".
This is the documentation of pAVR. You can also find here the core pAVR sources, some tests and results of synthesis on Xilinx Spartan 3 FPGA.
- What's AVR? and pAVR?
- AVR is the name of a family of controllers produced by Atmel Corp.
pAVR is an AVR clone, built by me, and documented here. It implements the AVR instruction set much faster (~3x) than Atmel's original core.
- Why did I do this?
- It's cool to design the fastest 8 bit microcontroller on the market.
With pAVR I achieved these:
- tested my ability to do a big&complete project
- added to the open source comunity the fastest (as far as I know, in 2002) 8 bit controller on the market
